Binary Puzzle: how a round works

Try Binary Puzzle at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Fill a 6×6 grid with balanced zeroes and ones, no three equal neighbours, and no duplicate rows or columns. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Look at what changes after your first action.

Choose from ten 6×6 puzzles. Undo changes or reveal a selected cell when you need help.

A small practice goal

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Keep the objective visible.

What you need to achieve

Fill a 6×6 grid with balanced zeroes and ones, no three equal neighbours, and no duplicate rows or columns. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Check the rules when you are unsure.

The steps to play

  1. Select an editable square.
  2. Enter 0 or 1; each line needs three of each.
  3. Avoid three consecutive equal values horizontally or vertically.
  4. Check puzzle validates balance, triples and unique lines.

How to use the controls

Click or tap squares or graph edges. Number boards include a digit pad. Undo reverses the previous change; Check puzzle validates the solution. Use the control method described here for this activity. Look at the feedback after the action.

A useful example

A row beginning 0 0 needs 1 next. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Consider the next action carefully.

A mistake to avoid

Balanced rows may still duplicate each other. Check the rule before repeating the action. Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round.
