Understand the basics of Kalah Mancala
Choose a round of Kalah Mancala and settle into its rules. When either row of six pits is empty, remaining seeds go to their owner’s store. The larger store wins. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.
Practice beyond the first move
Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Make the next step deliberately.
Your objective
When either row of six pits is empty, remaining seeds go to their owner’s store. The larger store wins. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Review the board or playing area as it changes.
How a round unfolds
- Player 1 uses the bottom six pits; Player 2 uses the top six.
- Choose a non-empty pit on your side and sow its seeds one at a time.
- Include your own store but skip the opponent’s store. Ending in your store grants another turn.
- Ending in an empty pit on your own side captures that seed and the opposite seeds, when the opposite pit is non-empty.
How to interact with the game
Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Read the example below alongside these instructions.
A closer look at one example
If your last seed reaches your store, you move again. If your row becomes empty, both stores are settled immediately. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Verify the rule before continuing.
Check this before moving on
The stores are scoring areas, not pits you can choose. These are Kalah rules, not every Mancala variant. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
